The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is set to be acknowledged December 3, 2017. This observance started back in 1992 as a way to promote the understanding of disability issues and mobile support for the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. It also sought to increase the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of the political, social, economic life.
However, as much work has been done on this issue, employers still have the ability to do better in this area and help change perceptions of hiring people with disabilities into the workforce.

Persons with disabilities live the same as you and I. Although some things may be different and need adjustments and refitting depending on the type of disability, it’s the same life. Unfortunately, many employers do not hire persons with disabilities because they believe they are not as capable of doing the job. When in reality, it can mean coming to terms with a quick adjustment, introduction of technology aid or adaptive techniques that allow the capable and qualified individual the chance to have lasting and fulfilling employment – what anyone really wishes for in a career.
